West Brom 1 Leicester City 4 - Player ratings

Albion slumped to their seventh straight defeat in all competitions yesterday, losing 4-1 to Leicester at The Hawthorns. Here, we rate the players.

Published
Oliver Burke was raw and unpredictable, but sometimes effective. (AMA)

Ben Foster

Slightly jittery game from Albion’s captain of the day. Kicked the ball into Hegazi, and should have reacted quicker to Iheanacho’s ball for Mahrez. But he did save well from Vardy. 5/10

Allan Nyom

Played the ball to Burke for Albion’s goal, and built up a useful if unpredictable partnership with the winger. Caught out of position a few times. 5/10

Craig Dawson

Given a chance in his preferred position but it didn’t go to plan. Should have dealt with Mahrez’s straight ball over the top for Vardy. 5/10

Ahmed Hegazi

Allowed Mahrez to sneak in behind him for the second goal and was ball-watching for the third goal. He may be a cult hero, but his positioning is getting worse. 4/10

Kieran Gibbs

Didn’t make any glaring errors and foraged forward when he could. 6/10

Jake Livermore

Didn’t stray as much as Krychowiak, which is why he probably stayed on. A few nice touches. 6/10

Matt Phillips

Showed a bit more fight than previous weeks but his free-kick was one of the worst in living memory and he created little. 5/10

Chris Brunt

Took inspiration from the Six Nations because he kept kicking the ball up the pitch to no-one in particular. Maybe that was down to a lack of options, but not his best game. 5/10

Grzegorz Krychowiak

Guilty of being a tad headless at times, and not everything he tries comes off, but at least he was trying to get Albion going, trying to create something. Should not have reacted to being subbed like that though. 6/10

Oliver Burke

Passed backwards too much and ran into traffic too much, but the 20-year-old also did a lot of good things, including set up the goal. He may be as raw as a butcher’s cut, but his electric pace makes him dangerous and unpredictable. Threatened more than Phillips. 6/10

Salomon Rondon

After struggling in front of goal last week, Rondon made no mistake here, getting in front of his man to tuck home Burke’s cross. He caused Wes Morgan plenty of problems, and was unfairly blocked by the Leicester centre-back. Kept battling until the end, more than can be said for some of his team-mates. 6/10

Substitutes

Sam Field (Krychowiak 59)

Good to see him but he's not a left winger. 6/10

Jay Rodriguez (Phillips 70)

Didn't get a sniff. 5/10

Hal Robson-Kanu (Burke 81)

The game was already lost. 5/10

Unused: Myhill, McAuley, Yacob, McClean.
