Evans has been sick for the past two days and will face a late fitness check on Saturday morning ahead of the match at The Hawthorns.

Gareth Barry remains unavailable with his knee knock, while Daniel Sturridge is now out until after the international break.

James Morrison and Nacer Chadli remain sidelined but Hal Robson-Kanu is set to return from his hamstring injury.

“Gareth Barry won’t make it and the normal guys that have been out are still out," said Pardew.

“The worry we have is Jonny Evans, who has been sick for the last two days, so he is a big doubt. Everybody else should be OK.

“To lose a player of Jonny’s ability is a blow yes, but it’s not something that’s going to be massively damaging to us in terms of a result. We’ve got good players to step in.”

Sturridge has only played 77 minutes for the Baggies so far, but Albion are picking up his £120,000-a-week wages and have paid Liverpool a £2m loan fee on top of that.

That means he has cost the club roughly £23,400 per minute on the pitch so far.

“He is getting closer," said Pardew. "We think he will probably miss Bournemouth, which is a shame, but the game after the international break he should be good to go.

“That will give us a chance to put some work into him so that is probably his schedule.

“For a long time this team has struggled to score goals from open play, I brought Daniel in to correct that and he’s played a few minutes.

"That window is sometimes difficult. Slimani hasn’t played for Newcastle.

"We're hoping on our side that Daniel gets fit and becomes a real asset for us, but we've got to get ourselves there first.

"More importantly, if we can get ourselves a win, or four points, or six points from the next two games that's going to make his bedding into the team so much more easier. Really and truly that's my focus more than Daniel."

Albion host Leicester at The Hawthorns this weekend after six straight defeats in all competitions.

"I think the key is looking after Leicester's better players," said Pardew. "(Riyad) Mahrez and (Jamie) Vardy are special players, Mahrez dug them out of a big hole last week and he has that ability.

"We need to look after them well and put enough pressure on them to try and force some weaknesses in their team. They've got a couple of injuries, that's something we can lean on."
