The top spot was taken by Manchester United as world football’s top earners, according to the latest annual “Money League” report by accountancy firm Deloitte.

United made £581million during the 2016-17 season, pipping Real Madrid to the top spot by just £1.5million.

Premier League clubs nearly took half of the top 30 places recorded by Deloitte, with Crystal Palace, Baggies, Bournemouth and Stoke in 26th to 29th place.

The Baggies revenue was reported to be at £160.5m for the 2016/17 season, £2.9m more than Portuguese giants Benfica.

Bournemouth’s revenue of £136.8million last season was £135.7million higher than in 1996-97, when they finished 16th in English football’s third tier.
