Everton 1 West Brom 1 - Player ratings

Albion extended their unbeaten run to three games in all competitions with a 1-1 with Everton at Goodison Park. Here, we rate the players.

Grzegorz Krychowiak escapes Wayne Rooney. (AMA)

Ben Foster

Nothing he could have done about Niasse’s goal, and he dealt well with everything else thrown at him, whether a shot or a dodgy backpass. 6/10

Craig Dawson

Obviously did his job in the first half, because Nikola Vlasic was dragged off. Yannick Bolasie didn’t have much more joy. Only Rondon won more headers, Albion are better when he plays. 6/10

Jonny Evans

Played through a knock for most of the game, but was eventually forced off. Frustrated in the first half that Krychowiak was dropping into his space, but that problem disappeared second half when the midfielder drove forward. 6/10

Ahmed Hegazi

Not up to his usual towering best, and he let Oumar Niasse get in front of him for the goal. 6/10

Kieran Gibbs

Kept Theo Walcott quiet for most of the game, until he headed Rooney’s cross back across goal for the equaliser. A fair few goals coming from that side recently. 6/10

Matt Phillips

Defensively sound, and nearly scored a brilliant winner after killing the ball dead and beating a few men. It wasn't as eye-catching as recent performances, but it was solid. 6/10

Gareth Barry

Marshalled Gylfi Sigurdsson excellently on his return to Goodison Park. 7/10

Grzegorz Krychowiak

Much more like it. For the first time this season the PSG star was driving forward with the ball and posing an attacking threat. He reads the game well and set Albion on several counter attacks. Might have scored a couple on another day, and tested Pickford late on, but his pass for Rodriguez’s goal was pure class. 8/10

Chris Brunt

His corners were dangerous but apart from that it was an afternoon devoted to defending. Let Walcott escape him in the build up to Everton's goal. 6/10

Jay Rodriguez

Now has three goals in his last five games, and is showing signs he can get the goals to keep Albion up. Despite the audacious pass from Krychowiak, there was still plenty to do, but it was a confident and tidy finish made especially impressive considering the week he’s just had. The way he comforted McCarthy was admirable too. 8/10

Salomon Rondon

Dominated the Everton backline from first to last minute. His work in the centre circle led to the first goal and he nearly won it at the death with a brilliant curling effort that smacked the bar. The only blemish was a header he should have put on target, and his human response to McCarthy’s injury should be applauded. Certainly deserved a goal. 8/10

Substitutes

Jake Livermore (Rodriguez 79)

Preferred to Yacob or Field. 6/10

James McClean (Brunt 79)

Fashioned a chance for Rondon. 6/10

Gareth McAuley (Evans 79)

Kept Everton out in the dying minutes. 6/10

Unused: Myhill, Nyom, Field, Robson-Kanu.
