The Brighton player reported Rodriguez to referee Martin Atkinson during Saturday's game at The Hawthorns and has asked the FA to follow up his allegations with a full investigation.

The Seagulls released a statement yesterday giving their backing to Bong, and last night, the Baggies issued a similar statement in support of Rodriguez.

Albion Director of Football Administration Richard Garlick said: “The club will co-operate fully with the FA throughout this investigation and, as has been indicated from the outset, remains fully supportive of Jay.

“We will not be making any further comment at this stage."

Bong is believed to be accusing Rodriguez of saying 'You're black and you stink' during an altercation in the second half.

But the Baggies striker vehemently denies any wrongdoing, saying his actions and words were just implying Bong had bad breath.
