West Brom blog: Time to stay positive

Despite sitting second bottom of the Premier League table, fans of West Bromwich Albion need to stay positive as the results will soon come, believes Baggies blogger Nathan Carr.

Positivity is key for Albion fans

Everyone knows about the 19-match win-less run in all competitions.

Of course, our position in the table isn’t pretty. Not at all.

However, the recent performances haven’t been bad – we’re creating chance after chance and defending well overall.

Having Matt Phillips and Chris Brunt back in the side is a big plus.

Those two make a significant difference to Albion’s attacking play, as will Nacer Chadli and James Morrison when both fit.

We’re taking more initiative and applying more pressure than we ever did under Tony Pulis.

It’s just that finishing touch which is eluding us.

Salomon Rondon has been guilty of spurning several golden opportunities over the last couple of matches, but surely if we keep on supplying him with the ammunition, the penny will drop sooner rather than later.

I do think we need another striker in the January transfer window to help our goals-per-game ratio, and I’m almost certain the club will have a list of targets they’re working on to address this.

There are still plenty of points left to play for: the likes of West Ham, Brighton, Southampton, Huddersfield, Bournemouth, Swansea, Newcastle and Crystal Palace are all to come.

The above are all winnable games – all it takes is one victory to kick-start a good run of form and climb up the table into safer territory. We’re getting closer.

I continue to have faith in Alan Pardew and the players to steer us out of this relegation dogfight. There’s enough time left in the season.

My message to all Baggies fans is to stay positive.

And have a Happy New Year!
