West Brom board not planning to sack Tony Pulis over international break

Albion's top brass are not planning to axe under-fire Baggies boss Tony Pulis over the international break.

Although the board are deeply concerned by results, Pulis is expected to still be in charge of the team for the home match with Chelsea in a fortnight's time.

Pressure is piling up on the Welshman after a limp 1-0 defeat to ten-man Huddersfield Town extended the club's winless run to 10 games in all competitions.

During the match, chants of 'Tony Pulis, get out of our club', 'You're getting sacked in the morning', and 'Tony Pulis, your football is s**t' rained down from the sold out away end.

Pulis is under more heat than ever before during his Albion reign but the situation is not yet at breaking point.

Chairman John Williams visited the dressing room after Saturday's game as a sign of solidarity with his head coach.

He is planning to give Pulis more time, although matters could be taken out of his hands should owner Guochuan Lai call from China.

Lai's business model requires Albion to be a Premier League team, and he could pull the trigger if he deems that to be under threat.

However, there is a feeling at the club that there is a dearth of suitable alternatives out there who are available at the moment.

Pulis was resolute after the game and insisted his relationship with Williams was strong, but admitted he couldn't affect decisions in the board room.

"I’m not worried about the chairman," he said. "I’m not worried about the situation behind the scenes.

"John (Williams) popped in as he always does after the game and the unity in the dressing room is absolutely first class.

"My concern is the players, my worry is always the dressing room. Outside of the dressing room I can’t affect but the dressing room I can."

Pulis is confident he can still turn form around, given time to do so.

"We’ve had a dip this year," he said. "Fine. But are we strong enough to get through it? Are we good enough to get through it? I think we are.

"But as a club mid-table in the Premier League, you don’t always go up and up and up."
