Craig Shakespeare has been sacked by Leicester.

The Daily Mail are reporting that Shakespeare was called to a meeting with the club hierarchy on Tuesday morning and dismissed after a run of one win in 10 Premier League games had left the former champions in the relegation zone.

Shakespeare, who made more than 200 appearances for Walsall and played more than 100 times for Albion, started his coaching career at the Baggies.

He took charge of one Albion game as caretaker boss in 2006 before becoming Nigel Pearson’s assistant at Leicester.

Shakespeare stayed at the Foxes following Pearson’s departure and became Claudio Ranieri’s assistant, helping the Italian guide them to the Premier League title.

Last season, he took over as caretaker boss in February when Ranieri was sacked and subsequently won his first five Premier League games in charge.

However, a poor start to the season culminating in a 1-1 with Albion at the King Power Stadium last night has encouraged the Leicester board to act.

Mick McCarthy lost his job back in February 2012 when the Baggies crushed arch-rivals Wolves 5-1 at Molineux, and Chelsea sacked Andre Villas-Boas a month later after he lost 1-0 to Albion.

Roberto Di Matteo (Chelsea), Chris Hughton, twice (Norwich and Newcastle), Paolo Di Canio (Sunderland), Steve Cotterill (Bristol City) and Mike Phelan (Hull) have all lost their jobs after failing to beat the Baggies.
