The 28-year-old will now be suspended for Tuesday night’s Carabao Cup tie at Accrington, along with the Baggies forthcoming Premier League fixtures against Stoke and Brighton.

It follows the decision of an FA commission to uphold the red card shown to Robson-Kanu by referee Martin Atkinson, after the striker was adjudged to have led with his arm when challenging Clarets defender Matthew Lowton.

Albion submitted their appeal on the grounds of wrongful dismissal but it was rejected by an independent panel.

The dismissal capped an extraordinary cameo for the Wales international, who came off the bench to score the only goal of the game at Turf Moor before then being given his marching orders.
