West Brom have agreed a fee in the region of £5m with Queens Park Rangers for winger Matt Phillips.

The 25-year-old is due to have a medical at the training ground in the next 48 hours and finalise the personal terms of his new contract.

The deal is expected to be done in time for Phillips to fly out to a week-long fitness camp in Austria on Thursday with the rest of the squad.

The speedy winger has been a long-term target for head coach Tony Pulis, who tried to buy him last summer.

Rangers wanted £10m for Phillips last summer, but dropped their asking price this time around for several reasons.

Phillips only had one-year left on his contract at QPR and the club wanted to off-load his £25,000-a-week salary.

They would have also had to give former club Blackpool a slice of any fee over £5m.

Albion returned to QPR this summer with a £3.5m opening bid plus add-ons making it up to £4m in total.

Rangers rejected that initial offer but the two clubs have now reached an agreement.
