Forest reject West Brom's Antonio bid

Sport | Published:

Albion have seen their £5million bid for Nottingham Forest winger Michail Antonio rejected.

The Baggies are in the hunt for wide players this summer but have been told the 25-year-old, who scored 15 goals last season, is not for sale.

Forest are currently operating under a Financial Fair Play transfer embargo and would be unable to spend the proceeds of any sale, while chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi has insisted they will not be cashing in.

However, it is understood Antonio would be keen on a move to the Premier League, though any deal is now likely to rest on the player trying to force the East Midlands club's hand by handing in a transfer request.

Today's news continues a frustrating few weeks for Albion boss Tony Pulis, who has also seen negotiations over QPR winger Matt Phillips hit an impasse as the London club refuse to lower their £10m asking price.
