Albion's George Thorne is eyeing a switch to the Rams
Albion midfielder George Thorne today hinted he could stay at Derby next season if he helps the Rams reach the Premier League.
Thorne scored his first Derby goal to cap a man-of-the-match display in Friday's 2-0 win at Doncaster.
And the 21-year-old has hinted he could be tempted into an extended loan or permanent switch to the Rams if they reach the top flight.
Steve McClaren's men look on course for the Championship play-offs and Thorne said: "I've always said I want to be playing in the Premier League next season but it could be with Derby.
"At the minute I want to get promoted with Derby and then we can sit down and review things.
"Ideally you'd like automatic promotion, but if it comes down to a day at Wembley we'd back ourselves in a one off game.
"I'm delighted we're in the play-offs but we will continue to put pressure on Burnley to get that second automatic place."
Thorne has now made seven starts for Derby after being frustrated as an unused substitute in his early weeks in the East Midlands.
He said: "I'm very pleased with my form. It was frustrating not being the team but we have a strong squad.
"It's down to us to cement our place in the starting eleven for the play-offs."
