West Bromwich Albion goalkeeper Ben Foster has suffered a fresh injury setback – and Youssouf Mulumbu has been ruled out of Saturday's trip to Sunderland.

Foster might need further groin surgery less than two weeks after having an initial operation, and that could rule him out until mid-December.

Key midfielder Mulumbu is out of the trip to the Stadium of Light with a hamstring problem but defender Gareth McAuley is fit to return.

Boss Steve Clarke said: "Ben won't be fit this week. We are thinking he's got a similar problem on the other side of the groin now.

"We will get that checked out but he won't be fit for Saturday. I'll leave that to my medical staff and we will assess it again after the weekend.

"Mulumbu won't be fit this weekend but we are very hopeful he will be fit for mid-week."
