Albion will not recall Scott Allan early from his loan at Portsmouth – but he could figure in the final two matches of the season.

The Baggies considered calling back Allan in time for Saturday's derby against Villa with Pompey's relegation fate now sealed.

They have now allayed the fears of Fratton Park boss and former Hawthorns coach Michael Appleton by rejecting the idea, meaning Allan will figure at Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

But the 20-year-old will then return in time to be considered for the trip to Bolton and the season finale at home to Arsenal.

Assistant boss Keith Downing said: "We wanted to keep Scott there to help Michael out as much as possible. Michael still needs him to complete one more game."
