The Saddlers released eight members of the first-team squad and let go manager Brian Dutton in a bid to change their fortunes for the upcoming campaign.

The search for a new manager is still on and with at least 10 players expected through the door in the coming months, Kinsella is keen to come back ‘on a high’.

“Nineteenth in the division is not good enough,” he said.

“I know, the lads know, it hasn’t been good enough this season. We want to be higher up the table but things have not gone our way in games and that’s why we’re 19th in League Two.

“It’s a long season and we’ve had time to get higher up the table. It’s a big summer now. It’s going to be a big recruitment job but we have to be positive, have a good summer and come back to pre-season on a high.”

Regarding the 2020/21 season, Kinsella added: “We’ve gone to games and put in brilliant performances and haven’t got any points.

“The word would be frustrated. It’s been a frustrating season.

“We haven’t been where we want to be, we want to be higher up the table but we’re not and that’s the way it’s gone this season.”
