The 19-year-old has been previously criticised by manager Darrell Clarke for not taking his opportunities in the EFL Trophy and handful of League Two substitute appearances.

But on Saturday Nolan made the most of his first league start for the club with an impressive 65-minute performance and defender Jules was full of praise for the young talent.

He said: “I thought he had a brilliant game. He was really influential, especially in the first 45. He’s been a bit unlucky with opportunities this season but he’s kept his head, he’s been very professional and he’s waited for his chance. I thought he was brilliant and I thought he did really well.

“He’s still very young but it doesn’t matter how old you are, when you’re a professional footballer, you want to play every week. Like anyone else in his position, he has been frustrated but he’s come in and conducted himself perfectly and I thought he had an excellent game.”
