Walsall defender Dan Scarr insists the squad has belief in their ability but that they must become more ruthless in front of goal.

The 25-year-old has been a mainstay in the Saddlers side this season, making 16 appearances so far in all competitions.

The lowest point of the campaign came on Saturday in the 1-0 loss to struggling Southend United, but Scarr says the belief is still there and they can have a successful campaign.

“We do believe in ourselves, we know we’re a good team,” he said.

“When we play some of the better sides, we’ve run all over them so we know what we’re capable of and I think we’re a good team.

“We’re strong, we’re good going forward, we get chances, we don’t let teams score a lot of goals so all the signs are there, we just need to be that little bit more ruthless. We get chances every game and we always talk about them, there are a few chances in the game that we get that have got to be goals. We’ll always create them but we’ve got to start taking them.”
