In total, 16 legends share their memories of giant killings and hard-fought promotions.

In a series of extracts from the book this week, the Express & Star shone a light on some of the interesting tales found across the 320 pages.

On Tuesday Craig Shakespeare looked back at the days leading up to the League Cup semi-final away to Liverpool in 1984 and his driving test hours before the clash.

Then Adi Viveash remembered the build-up to sealing promotion to the second tier in 1999 before yesterday’s extract showed Adam Chambers looking back on the night Walsall reached Wembley for the first time in their history.

Within the covers of the book fans can also see stories from fellow Saddlers legends including Peter Hart, Chris Marsh Allan Clarke, and Alan Buckley.

Now, the Express & Star and book publishers Pitch have joined forces to give away three free copies of Walsall Match Of My Life.

To enter, fans must email sports@expressandstar.co.uk with the correct answer to this question:

Which former Walsall goalkeeper is the record appearance holder for the club?

Email entries should have the subject ‘Walsall book competition’ in the subject line.

Fans must then give the correct first name and surname of the player in question in the email body.

Entries close at 6pm on Sunday, August 16.

Three winners will then be picked at random and they will be emailed back for their address, where Pitch will post the free copy of the book.

The sports editor’s decision is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
