The striker blew hot and cold throughout the campaign before impressing in late February and early March, until the campaign was suspended.

As a result, the option to keep him at the club was taken up and the 22-year-old is now aiming to push on.

“The key word I used last season was consistency and that was the main part of my game that I needed to keep on doing really, just to keep performing at a consistent level,” he said. “I did go away and have a think about what I needed to do in terms of getting myself right before games.

“I spoke to the gaffer, I spoke to members of staff and we just had a chat on what’s going to get me going for games and that’s what I did, I went away and thought about what I need that’s going to push me and make me be the best player I can be on the pitch.

“I will be doing that again this season because I feel like if it helped me last season. And if I keep reminding myself that consistency is key then I will just keep pushing on and try and keep improving my game. Both mentally and physically, and just make sure I have a strong mindset coming into the new season.”
