The 34–year–old, who spent half of the 2018/19 season on–loan at the Banks’s Stadium, insists that the club can have a successful campaign due to their decision to keep the majority of last season’s squad together.

“They definitely have the squad and the platform to do it,” he said.

“Keeping hold of that many players is only going to benefit them because they’ve all played together last year.

“They’ll be working again knowing everyone’s roles and responsibilities in the team and it’s going to help them massively for the following year.

“I know from experience, when I first went to Wolves we were gelling as a squad and missed out on the play–offs by a goal and then the following season we got promoted as champions. We added a few players here and there but it was just that the previous year of everyone working together, knowing everyone’s weaknesses and strengths, you then get an idea of how everyone gels together – it helps massively.”
