Walsall to take on Coventry and Forest Green in EFL Trophy

Walsall will take on Forest Green Rovers and Coventry City in the EFL Trophy group stages this season.

Darrell Clarke's side will face Coventry and Forest Green in the competition.

The Saddlers were drawn in group D of the southern section of the competition, battling fellow League Two side Forest Green and League One Coventry City - as well as taking on an invited club which will be determined on Friday July 12.

Darrell Clarke's side will begin the competition in the opening week of September, with the final scheduled for Sunday April 5 2020 - at Wembley.

Walsall will face one of eight invited clubs in their group, with Arsenal, Brighton, Chelsea, Fulham, Norwich, Southampton, Spurs and West Ham all in the hat for a spot in group D.

Their position in the competition will be decided live on TalkSPORT at 12.30pm Friday.
