Kane Wilson says he is happy to play at right-back, left-back or on the wing if it means getting a starting spot at Walsall.

The 18-year-old has featured 10 times for the Saddlers since joining on loan from Albion in the summer.

But while he started the cup games against Tranmere, Macclesfield, Burton and Middlesbrough he is yet to begin a game in League One.

When he has played though, Wilson's versatility has meant he has been deployed in a number of roles.

And he says he's happy to play anywhere if it means forcing his way into Dean Keates' side.

"It doesn't really bother me where I play – I'm just trying to work my way into the starting line-up and become a regular now in the league," the right-footed teenager said.

"I'm happy on either the right or left side of defence. Each side has its positives and negatives.

"I can’t do certain things on my left-foot that I can on my right but I can go either way.

"No position really bothers me, whether it is winger or full-back. I think that is a good part of my game.

"I can play in different positions so I'm happy to slot in wherever the manager needs me."

Wilson feels his positioning as well as his crossing are the main areas he has to improve to force his way into the team.

"I need to work on my crossing – I need to integrate crossing into my game," the Albion loanee continued.

"In training, I can whip 100 balls in but in a game it’s much different because you’re on the move and there are so many different factors.

"I’d like to make sure that my final ball is always perfect or in the right area.

"But I also need to improve my positioning. I think you can always learn more about your positioning.

"If I am in the right position then I haven’t got to rely on my speed or my physicality to get me out of trouble."
