George Dobson out to prove his Walsall worth

George Dobson is determined to prove his worth to manager Dean Keates by playing a key role in Walsall staying in League One.

The 20-year-old was arguably the brightest spark in the final weeks of Jon Whitney’s tenure.

But following Keates’ arrival, he had to make do with a place on the subs bench with Florent Cuvelier preferred in midfield.

Dobson, though, impressed his new boss in training to earn a recall to the starting line-up against Oldham and Wimbledon.

“Of course things change when a new manager comes in,” Dobson said.

“When the gaffer arrived Flo was training really well.

“For me it was a case of sticking at it.

“As a footballer, there are going to be times when you are not in the team. It’s all about how you react.

“And ever since all I have been doing is trying to prove to the gaffer I deserve to be in the team and that is what I will continue to do”

Meanwhile, Walsall are aiming to ramp up the atmosphere for their crucial clash with Northampton on April 28 by announcing lower ticket prices.

In the Tile Choice Stand, tickets for the relegation six-pointer have been priced at £5 per person. Season ticket holders will be able to take a friend for £5, with 1888 Lounge members able to do so for £10. Both offers will be available on the day.
