The Albion loanee was snapped up on transfer deadline day in a bid to help the Saddlers haul themselves up the League One table.

And the 20-year-old has made a flying start to life at the Banks's Stadium with the team yet to taste defeat in his four outings for the club.

In those matches, Jon Whitney's side has kept two clean sheets with Fitzwater putting in man of the match performances against MK Dons and Gillingham.

And the centre-back admits he has been pleased with his form.

"I’m pleased with how I have started," the centre-back said.

"I wanted to get in the team and stay in and I have done that now for four games.

"I think as a back four, whether it’s been Nicky Devlin at right back or Liam Kinsella, we have looked solid.

"Robbo (Liam Roberts) playing behind us has also done well. And I’m enjoying playing alongside Jon (Guthrie).

"The team has a resilience about it and we showed that at Gillingham. The spirit in the group is really good.

"We are not looking down, we are looking up. We want to see how far we can go. We are four matches unbeaten, we are on a run and we are determined to keep it going."

Fitzwater's form has already led to some Saddlers fans calling for his loan move to be made permanent.

But while he is out of contract in the summer, the youngster isn't thinking too far ahead.

"I’m contracted to Albion until the end of the season," Fitzwater added.

"I’m enjoying being at Walsall and I’m just going to play the rest of the games and see what happens.

"We’ll see in the near future what happens. Chats with Albion are ongoing. My job is to focus on what I am doing here and give 100 per cent in every match I play.

"That is what I do for every game I'm playing in."
