Andy Butler: We've lost our shock value

Andy Butler today admitted Walsall have lost their shock value but insisted the Saddlers can still be the envy of League One.

The skipper reckons they must deal with the spotlight after the new-look Saddlers made their TV debut.

And Butler said: "My wife texted me to say Ronnie Moore wants to come and watch us train because of the way we played. It shows we're doing the right things.

"It shows we've come a long way and people are taking notice."

They host Crewe on Saturday looking to end a run of three straight league defeats which has left them 11th in the table.

But Butler reiterated the squad's belief their style will reproduce the results they earned at the start of the season.

"The Prozone stats against Leyton Orient showed we passed the ball 444 times to their 130 so it shows how we battered them," said the 28-year-old. "Carlisle was a scrappy game but we had a couple of chances and on Sunday you wondered how we didn't get anything.

"We'll keep our chins up and it's not going to stop the way we're playing. That's a credit to Rich (O'Kelly) and the gaffer, we're not going to stop what we're doing. It's just fine lines.

"We could go back to last year where we lumped it at times and everyone is down-hearted with how we've played but we won't. We'll keep striving to get better."
