Keeper Karl Darlow pledges a Saddlers revival

The goalkeeper reckons they can hit back in Sunday's televised showdown after three straight defeats. Tuesday's Johnstone's Paint Trophy disappointment to Port Vale was the third straight home loss in a week after they went down to Leyton Orient and Carlisle.

But Darlow is confident the Saddlers can recover in time for their first trip to Shrewsbury for six years.

The Nottingham Forest loanee said: "There's a belief in the lads. We're pretty fearless because we haven't experienced much before and when stuff happens you have to react to it. We're pretty strong as a squad and we'll come back fighting.

"It's all an experience for me and the young boys in the dressing room. We've pulled together and we've got a good working environment. We'll be fine.

"We've got to work hard, win our battles, stay organised and let the rest work out."

Boss Dean Smith has insisted the Saddlers will not ditch their passing style for results after their Trophy penalty exit.

They blew a 2-0 lead to draw 2-2 with League Two Vale before losing 6-5 on penalties, despite Darlow saving four spot-kicks.

And the 21-year-old agreed with his manager but admitted the Saddlers need to be tighter at the back.

He said: "We are worth watching, some of the stuff we play is unbelievable.

"Look at the goal from Saturday against Carlisle, I rolled it out to the right back, it went back in, across and there was the finish from Jamie Paterson.

"We play some great stuff and create chances. That's why we're so open at the back sometimes but we've got to be more organised and keep the flair at the same time."

Sunday's clash is live on Sky with Walsall selling out their 1,400 allocation of tickets but Darlow says they must ignore the cameras.

"It doesn't affect me personally, we've got to go out perform well and let rest take care of itself," he added.

"It's a good opportunity to show what we've got, there's some great talent but we've got to put it out of our minds and pass the ball," he added.
