Walsall captain Andy Butler today insisted the Saddlers should "go home" if they lack belief – but backed them to resurrect their season.

The team have been hit by an eight game winless streak which has left them 19th in League One and out of the Johnstone's Paint Trophy.

They host Preston on Saturday after Saturday's 1-1 draw at fellow strugglers Wycombe and Butler called on the team to remain united.

He said: "If we don't believe now we may as well go home. The lads are always going to try their hardest and we're not going to give up in any game.

"Everyone knows we try hard and the fans can see we're not letting our heads drop. We're still playing with a smile on our faces and results will come."
