Glassboys set for City replay after Trophy tie

Stourbridge must replay their FA Trophy second qualifying round clash with Lancaster City after a feisty 2-2 draw at the War Memorial Ground last night.

The Glassboys were two goals to the good and seemed to be cruising in the first half after debutant Anthony Dwyer opened the scoring after just two minutes.

Their lead was doubled in the 19th minute when Andre Landell took full advantage of a well-worked short corner routine to fire home.

However, Stourbridge were kicking themselves just before half-time when City struck through Robert Wilson.

Tempers flared on both sides in the second half as both teams searched for the next vital goal but it was the visitors who eventually grabbed the equaliser with 15 minutes left on the clock.

The replay at Lancaster will take place on November 23.

Hednesford Town moved back into second spot in the Southern Premier League Central Division with a comprehensive victory over Suffolk side Leiston.

The Pitmen made light of their 180-mile trip to East Anglia as they ran out comfortable 3-0 winners.

Hednesford’s Andre Brown bagged a brace with strikes either side of half-time before the third goal was fired in by substitute Kristian Scott.

The result leaves them two points behind leaders Tamworth, who beat Alvechurch 2-0 at The Lamb.

In the Integro League Cup, Chasetown overcame Stafford Rangers from a division above with a 2-0 victory thanks to two Jack Langston stunners at Marston Road.

The first was a 30-yard curling effort and his second was even better, lobbing the stranded keeper from near the halfway line to pile more misery on Rangers’ miserable season so far.

AFC Wulfrunians bowed out of the Birmingham Senior Cup after a 2-0 defeat to Solihull Moors. Tividale game against a Wolves XI in the competition was postponed.
