Will Grocott’s goal early in the second half looked like being decisive but veteran striker Scott Rendell shattered the Glassbys’ hopes when he stabbed home an equaliser on 86 minutes.

The visitors had a couple of early efforts off target but it was the Glassboys who opened the scoring with their first chance on the game on 25 minutes. Tom Tonks’ long throw found Aaron Lloyd in the middle and he glanced a header past keeper Max Stryjek.

But the lead lasted just ten minutes, Tyrone Barnett heading the Spitfires level as he reached a Sam Smart cross ahead of Stour keeper James Wren.

The second half was just seven minutes old when the Glassboys regained the lead, Grocott finishing off a delightful passing move.

A missed penalty from Rendell looked like costing the visitors but the Spitfires marksman popped up late on to salvage a draw after skipper Danny Hollands had headed on a free-kick.
