Sutton Coldfield Town 0 Stourbridge 4 - Report

Stourbridge showed a clinical edge to ease to victory over their West Midlands neighbours.

The Glassboys could not have wished for a better start, taking the lead inside two minutes when a ball over the top from Aaron Forde sent Luke Shearer in on goal and he lifted his shot over home keeper Nick Draper.

The Royals then had the better of the half but failed to make the most of their opportunities. On 14 minutes a delightful cross from former Stourbridge forward Gurjit Singh picked out Danny O’Callaghan and his downward header forced a good save from Matt Gould in the visitors goal.

Singh had already sent a free-kick over the Stourbridge bar but midway through the half he sent another crashing against the woodwork.

Tyler Lyttle also had a half chance for the hosts before the Glassboys doubled their lead with just their second shot of the game. A poor clearance from O’Callaghan fell at the feet of Joshua Green and the ball was worked to Shearer and then the unmarked Kyle Perry who tapped home from six yards.

The second half saw more Sutton pressure with the visitors content to protect their lead.

On 64 minutes Stourbridge keeper Gould needed to stretch to keep out a lofted Matthew Walters effort and a thundering run from Reece Webb ended with a weak shot straight at the visitors’ shotstopper.

In contrast to Sutton’s wayward finishing, the Glassboys wrapped up the points with two late goals. With ten minutes to go, Aaron Forde ran through before steering his shot beyond Draper and substitute Josh Cooke sealed the win in the final minute following good work from Kennedy Digie.
