Stourbridge remain unbeaten

Stourbridge maintained their unbeaten start to the Evo-Stik Premier Division season with a 1-1 draw against visiting Natwich Town last night.

Jordan Archer’s fifth goal of the season on 17 minutes gave the Glassboys a half-time lead, and that was really the sum total of chances in a poor first period.

If Nantwich looked slightly on the back front in the first half, they came out all guns blazing and equalised on 50 minutes through Matthew Bell.

The introduction of Sean Cooke and former Halesowen player Kaiman Anderson boosted Nantwich with the former immediately shooting just wide.

Cooke looked very dangerous and his short free-kick on 65 minutes almost found it’s way into the net via a deflection but Matt Gould saved well.

Cooke, who proved man of the match despite playing only 34 minutes, almost won it on 85 minutes when Gould came out to make a clearance and Cooke sent the ball just over the bar from 30 yards.

Stourbridge’s only chance of the half came when Daryl Westlake chipped over on 59 minutes.
