The marksman who is looking to fill the boots of departed top scorer Luke Benbow has now scored in the opening two games.

The travelling Glassboys started brightly and were awarded a penalty within 12 minutes when Ruben Desrosiers brought down Archer inside the box.

However, keeper Matt Coton saved Archer’s spot-kick. The striker made amends for his penalty miss moments later breaking through the off-side trap before beating Coton. Coalville weathered the storm and Blair Anderson came inches away from responding when his free-kick rattled the bar.

Gary Hackett’s side could have doubled their lead before the break when Conor Gater’s free-kick looked to be heading goalwards but was headed over his own bar by defender Danny Jenno. Brandon Hague went even closer to sealing the victory when he rounded the goalkeeper but saw his effort blocked by a last ditch tackle.

Stourbridge were almost made to pay when Danny O’Callaghan saw a late looping header hit the bar.
