Rangers started brightly and on the 27th minute Thomas Taylor denied a vicious effort from Joe Cuff.

After the break the visitors had the ball in the back of the net as Gateshead loanee Connor Thompson headed home after Michael Coulson’s effort hit the post, but his goal was ruled out for off-side.

However, the visitors were reduced to 10 men after 54 minutes when Wayne Booksby was shown red after bringing down Bradley Coulson when he was through on goal.

The sending off gave Rangers a boost and Bradley Grayson saw his effort ruled out for off-side before Joe Cuff saw his effort rattle the bar.

Charles was not to be denied on the 71st minute after cutting inside from the left before rifling the ball home.

Despite Charles seeing his one on one shot saved Rangers held on much-needed victory.
