Despite losing two games on the bounce Rangers started strongly against their mid-table visitors.

Bradley Grayson was in the thick of the Boro action in the opening 10 minutes seeing his first effort fly over the bar and then his second effort blocked.

Daniel Hawkins was next to test the visitor’s goal and his low cross come shot almost found the bottom corner, but goalkeeper Nathan Broome was equal to the effort.

Broome was in action once again after 25 minutes this time denying a Josh Green cross which was flicked goalward.

The Boro continued to probe after the break and Broome once again kept the visitors level with a fine save picking the ball out of the top corner.

As Sports kept in the tie they remained a threat and Pablo Mills’ header at the back post landed on the roof of the net.

Once again Rangers were hit by a sucker punch as Mickleover took a 71st minute lead as Patrick Webb shrugged off his defender before firing the ball low and into the net.

With three minutes left on the clock Grayson came within an inch of earning Rangers a point but saw his chipped effort canon off the post.
