Following Tuesday night’s defeat to Mickleover the Boro started brightly and Josh Green forced Luke Mewitt into a smart save early on.

However, it was United who almost sneaked an unlikely lead as Dan O’Brien saw his curled effort deflected just wide.

Hyde broke the deadlock on the 61st minute after Tom Pratt ran onto a loose ball before finding Liam Tongue to fire home the opener.

It was put beyond the Boro’s reach with 11 minutes left on the clock when Paddy Lane put a ball into the six-yard box which was initially cleared before O’Brien found the bottom corner.

United were in the mood for more goals and Kyle Brownhill’s cross into the box was met by the head of Jack Dyche.

A bad day for Rangers was made worse as Theo Bailey-Jones was stretchered off and then Pratt headed home his second of the day.
