The visitors started brightly and striker Liam Hardy forced Adam Whitehouse into a smart save before at the opposite end Joe Cuff was denied by the opposing goalkeeper.

The Bucks kept probing and felt they should have had a penalty for a handball which was waved away before Greg Young saw his header fly just wide moments later.

Stafford thought they had scored the opener after 30 minutes when Tom Thorley fired home, but the ball touched an off-side Jake Charles and the goal was disallowed.

Charles himself almost capitalised on a defensive mistake before the break but saw his effort rattle the post.

At the other end striker Hardy put his effort wide before Brad Grayson saw his shot saved by the goalkeeper.

Four minutes into the second half Ashley Young scored the winner before Hardy saw his header saved as they almost doubled their lead.
