Stafford Rangers have bolstered their backline with the signing of former Shrewsbury, Kidderminster and Mansfield man Luke Jones.

Rangers chief Steve Burr knows Jones very well, having had the 31-year-old as skipper in his time in charge Kidderminster.

Jones spent last season at Tamworth and also lists Cercle Brugge, Forest Green and Stevenage as former clubs.

Boro said in a statement: "Luke was Steve’s captain at Kidderminster and comes with vast experience.

"Luke was being chased by several clubs in the Conference North.

"Steve is looking forward to teaming up with him again this coming season."

Jones is Burr's first signing since taking the reins at Marston Road.

He became boss earlier this month, after Neil Kitching stepped down following four years in charge.

Rangers will compete in the Evo-Stik Northern Premier next season.
