Kyle Perry keen to fire Stafford Rangers up the table

Kyle Perry insists he went with his gut feeling in deciding to turn down several offers to go back to Stafford Rangers.

The 31-year-old striker has joined Rangers for a second spell, from Evo-Stik Premier rivals Stourbridge.

Formerly of Port Vale, Hednesford Town and Chasetown, he was Boro’s top goalscorer last season and is aiming to find the net on a regular basis again for the Marston Road side.

“I had a good season here last year – a good relationship with the supporters, the manager and the chairman,” said Perry.

“It was one of the hardest decisions I’ve ever made in football, to leave Stafford at the start of this season – but I wasn’t playing much football.

“I went over to Barwell and scored some goals for them and then to Stourbridge, where things didn’t work out.

“I had a number of options – teams towards the top if this league, and teams in leagues below.

“Stafford was the one, my gut feeling, and I’m really happy to be back.”

It was not a dream return for Perry as Rangers lost 2-0 at Stalybridge Celtic on Tuesday night.

The result leaves them 18th in the table, but Perry believes that is a ‘false’ position.

“This league is so close and we’re in bit of a false position,” he said.

“This is a massive club and, as a local lad, I want to use my experience to help it get back up the league.”
