Stafford Rangers 1 Workington 2 - Report

A triple save from goalkeeper Adam Whitehouse could not save Stafford Rangers from shipping what proved to be the decisive goal in a 2-1 home defeat to Workington.

Phil McLuckie plundered the winner after Whitehouse had pawed away Nathan Waterston’s effort and two rebounds in a madcap scramble.

Boro had already clawed back a second-half deficit but Workington created the majority of the openings at Marston Road.

Dave Symington’s cross just skipped ahead of Waterston nine minutes in with Symington hitting the post from the edge of the box towards the end of the first half.

The visitors broke the deadlock through Connor Tinnion’s 25-yard rocket midway through the second half but Rangers levelled five minutes later when Rob Thompson-Brown converted Osebi Abadaki’s cross at the far post.

McLuckie then separated the sides once more but Abadaki might have pinched a share of the spoils a minute from time only for keeper Aaran Taylor to tip over the crossbar.
