Boss Neil Kitching has urged Stafford Rangers to ‘find some consistency’ after getting back to winning ways in the league.

Boro beat Nantwich Town 3-0 at Marston Road on Tuesday night – their first victory of September in the Evo-Stik Premier.

Mat Bailey, Osebi Abadaki and Richard Gregory got the goals, moving Rangers up to 17th after 11 games.

It was the ideal response after a 5-2 loss at Shaw Lane this past weekend, and Kitching said: “We’re well pleased to have got the three points and move up the table a little bit.

“It was a better performance than at Shaw Lane, although it was not hard to go and better that.

“They did what I asked them to do, that’s the pleasing thing – they have gone out there and carried out the game plan.”

Kitching wants to push for a play-off place this term – and they are currently eight points off.

A big positive for them so far is the form of Dan Westwood, who has scored seven league goals.

They turn their attentions to the FA Cup on Saturday, though, as they host AFC Telford United.

The Bucks play in the division above, National League North, but Rangers won 1-0 against Tamworth from the same level in the last round.

Kitching hopes to pull off another upset and continue to build momentum which can then transfer to the league.

“We have got to find some consistency,” he said. “We were great against Tamworth in the Cup, poor against Shaw Lane and then very good again on Tuesday night.

“We have been up and down. We are scoring plenty of goals, but conceding too.

“We put what was wrong from Saturday right on Tuesday night, we need to come up with a response and we did – gave the home supporters, who have been great, something to shout about.”

He added: “Now it is about getting a run together in the league and looking to move up the table – and hopefully getting through to the next round of the FA Cup as well.”
