The game was played in heavy, driving rain throughout, but both teams gave a good account of themselves.

Alex Moore fired a shot high over the bar and the home side went even closer two minutes later when Shaquille Whittingham saw his fierce shot just clear the ball with former Pics goalkeeper Joe Slinn scrambling across his goal.

As the home side continued to push forward Danny Waldron did well beating a couple of defenders before shooting wide but it was the visitors who should have gone ahead in the twenty eighth minute when Kyle Perry`s header put Javia Roberts in the clear but he rolled his shot inches past the far post.

The game was beginning to open up and Levi Rowley curled a shot just over on the half hour mark but on the stroke of half time the home side took the lead when Jonathan Letford powerfully headed home a superb cross from Danny O`Callaghan.

Alvechurch went close again shortly after the break when Jordan Goddard fired a long distance free-kick just wide and Paul Douglas ended a good move with a low shot straight at Flatt.

The home side though doubled their lead in the fifty second minute when an attempted clearance found its way to Orrin Pendley who fired home.

Seven minutes later the home side were reduced to ten men when Reece Mitchell was sent off and the impressive substitute Finley Thorndike, a second half change for the visitors, forced a good save from Flatt at the near post and then had an even better effort which only just cleared the bar.

Nine minutes from time Flatt saved bravely at the feet of Asomugha as the home side saw out the game to return to winning ways.
