Rushall Olympic 3 St. Neots Town 2 - Report and pictures

In an eventful game Rushall Olympic scored twice in the final eight minutes to snatch three points against a spirited St. Neots Town who led twice.

It was the home side who opened brightly with Danny Waldron shooting wide when well placed and Orrin Pendley headed just over. As the home side kept up the pressure Ash Sammons tested goalkeeper James Philip who got down well to turn his shot past the post for a corner.

The home side created another good opportunity when a long throw from Lee Smith caused problems, Ben Lund crossed into the area and Sam Whittall`s header was deflected for a corner and another header from Pendley was cleared off the line.

Little had been seen of the visitors but ten minutes before the break Dan Trendall`s low shot had goalkeeper Matt Sargeant scrambling across goal to make a save but four minutes later, against the run of play, the visitors went ahead when Trendall squared the ball to BEN BRADLEY who had the simple task of side-footing the ball into an empty net.

Ten minutes into the second half the home side were back on level terms when SIMEON MAYE turned well in the penalty area and fired home but the Pics joy was short-lived when two minutes later MASON RHINEY scored a terrific goal with a shot from twenty five yards to put the spirited visitors back in front.

Things got worse for the home side when goalkeeper Matt Sargeant was forced off with a groin strain and with no substitute goalkeeper on the bench centre-half Sam Whittall took the gloves but the introduction of substitute Aram Soleman changed the game in the home side`s favour.

After going close with a couple of efforts eight minutes from time he produced a terrific cross for DANNY WALDRON to head home and three minutes from time he was brought down inside the penalty area by Rhiney and centre-half turned goalkeeper, SAM WHITTALL proved the home side`s hero by converting the penalty
