Stratford Town 0 Rushall Olympic 1 - Report

Rushall Olympic produced a terrific defensive performance to earn all three points at play off hopefuls Stratford Town.

They were forced to play the majority of the second half with ten men following the sending off of Joe Hull but they responded superbly to keep the home side at bay.

The first half was a scrappy affair with chances few and far between but on twenty two minutes the visitors were ahead after Simon Maye rounded off a fine move involving Danny O'Callaghan and Danny Waldron.

Shortly before the break an inswinging Ashley Sammons corner caused problems for the home side who cleared at the second attempt.

The home side though came out of the blocks the quickest in the second half and put Rushall under severe pressure.

The Pics were reduced to ten men when Joe Hull was sent off for a bad tackle on Mo Sebbeh-Njie and from then on it was real backs to the wall.

Goalkeeper Matt Sargeant kept his side in the game with three tremendous saves and the home side came close again when a shot from Nabil Shariff hit the post.

Stratford kept up the pressure but the Pics defence held firm to secure three excellent points and it was a great way to bounce back following last week's home defeat to Needham Market.
