Rushall Olympic 1 Alvechurch 2 - Report

A hard fought local derby went the way of the visitors thanks to a late goal from substitute Keiron Cook.

Cook had only been on the field for two minutes when he ran onto a long through ball and smashed a left foot shot high into the net to send the visitors back home with all three points.

Chances had been at a premium in the first half but the deadlock was broken when Mitch Botfield`s twenty yard free-kick was heavily deflected past Rushall keeper Joe Slinn.

For a while in the second half it looked as if the visitors would increase their lead but home skipper Ashley Sammons brought his side level with a superb twenty yard left foot shot that gave Charlie Price little chance.

With both sides looking for a winner it was Alvechurch who would claim all three points by scoring the winning goal with just two minutes remaining.

Cook, who had only just come on as a substitute, raced on to a long ball and fired a left foot shot over the head of Slinn and into the top of the net to give the `Church` all three points.
