Smith netted a 34th-minute penalty to give Sutton Coldfield Town a 1-0 win in the first qualifying round replay at Dales Lane.

The Royals were awarded the spot-kick when the referee spotted an infringement after Jonathon Letford had swung in a cross. Smith stepped up to send Joe Slinn the wrong way.

Rushall rallied after the break and Ashley Sammons saw a shot saved before Smith missed a great chance to get his second when he headed wide from inside the six-yard box.

The hosts really stepped up the pressure in the final stages and Sammons and Justin Richards went close but were unable to find an equaliser.

n Tamworth head coach Mike Fowler has stepped down from his role following their FA Cup exit at Hednesford. He will continue in his youth development role with the club.
