Rushall Olympic 1-1 Barwell - Report

It was a much improved Rushall Olympic display as they battled to a deserved point against a physical Barwell side courtesy of an Andre Landell goal at Dales Lane.

It was a very quiet start to the match, with both sides trading set pieces and pot shots until the Pics took the lead in the 28th minute courtesy of the returning Andre Landell.

Charlie Duke put the ball in from the left and Landell cheekily flicked the ball past a helpless Max Smith-Varnham in the Barwell goal.

The second half started with a succession of long shots for the away side, but a solid Rushall defence prevented them from having any decent chances.

Substitute Dom Dell could have put the Pics out of sight on 68 minutes when he was put through one on one with Smith-Varnham, but his shot beat the post as well as the keeper.

Barwell were given the chance to equalise from the spot on 82 minutes after Joe hull brought down Owen Story inside the box.

Kyle Perry stepped up to fire the ball into the top corner to level the scores at 1-1.

The match ended on a sour note, with Wes Atkinson and Matthew Stenson getting themselves sent off by referee Gardner for a scuffle on the edge of the Rushall box in the 95th minute.
