The home side started brightly with several long range efforts easily dealt with by Pics new boy Dale Eve.

Rushall responded with a couple of half chances of their own, with Danny Waldron and Kailan Gould worrying the Altrincham keeper.

The Robins took the lead after a little spell of pressure on 17 minutes when the ball dropped at Ben Harrison’s feet 15 yards out from a corner.

The centre back slotted it into the bottom corner to make it 1-0.

After a period of misplaced crosses and long range shots, Josh Hancock doubled the lead for Altrincham on 38 minutes with a deft touch and cool finish into the bottom corner from the edge of the area.

Any chance of a second half comeback were dashed for the Pics when Kristian Scott was dismissed on 51 minutes for a professional foul after pulling John Hancock down when the forward was through on goal.

It was all Altrincham pressure after that, and they made their dominance count on 73 minutes when John Johnstone was unselfishly played in by Tom Peers following a quick counter attack to tap in and make it 3-0.

The Robins completed the scoring on 89 minutes with Jordan Hulme finally grabbing a deserved goal, tapping in after Eve spilled a long range James Poole effort.
