A goal in each half for Shaw Lane AFC capped off a frustrating evening for Rushall Olympic as the Pics fell to a 2-0 defeat away from home at Sheerien Park.

Shaw Lane went close after two minutes following a goalmouth scramble, but both Cameron Hough and Godwin Adabaki failed to test Dan Crane.

Dom Dell nearly scored a wonder goal on ten minutes with a rasping volley from 25 yards out narrowly missing the right hand post.

The Ducks took the lead on 23 minutes courtesy of an Adabaki header from a pinpoint Alex Byrne cross from the right hand side.

The Pics had the better of the remainder of the half, with Dell and Stan Mugisha unable to beat home keeper Jon Stewart from decent goalscoring opportunities.

In a second half of very few chances it was just a dipping half volley from Shaw Lane’s Spencer Harris on 61 minutes and a Byrne free kick that forced Crane into action.

The Pics piled on the pressure after that, but lacked an end product in the final third. Andre Landell and Kartel O’Neill Martin both had shots blocked but Rushall were unable to seriously test Jon Stewart.

Shaw Lane put the game to bed in the 90th minute when Nicky Walker surged into the box and slotted past the helpless Crane to double the home side’s lead.
