Kidderminster Harriers beaten for the first time

Kidderminster Harriers slipped to their first defeat of the season as they went down 3-1 at Chester.

After six minutes, Joel Taylor gave away a penalty and Anthony Dudley slotted home past Brandon Hall.

The hosts made it 2-0 on 52 minutes when an inswinging corner caused chaos and Matty Hughes was able to scramble the ball over the line.

Harriers were given hope 17 minutes from time when Ed Williams converted a spot-kick awarded for handball. But Hughes restored Chester’s two-goal lead to make the game safe on 81 minutes.

Stourbridge picked up a point from a largely uneventful 0-0 draw at Alvechurch in Southern Central.

There was penalty joy for Stafford Rangers and Chasetown in the first round of the Integro League Cup for Northern League sides.

Boro converted all five of their spot-kicks, including the winner from Jack Sherratt, after a 1-1 draw with Market Drayton Town. Josh Green’s strike had been cancelled out by Jay Russell.

Chasetown overcame Nantwich Town 4-1 on penalties after coming from behind thanks to Will Whieldon.
