Kidderminster Harriers captain hails young guns

Skipper Keith Lowe believes his Kidderminster Harriers team-mates are showing a ‘great level of maturity’ ahead of their home clash against Harrogate Town tomorrow.

The centre-half – who at 31 is the Aggborough outfit’s oldest player – has been a mainstay in National League North’s second-placed team this term and netted a last-gasp winner as they won 4-3 at Tamworth on Tuesday night.

That was the former Wolves man’s fourth goal of the season but rather than focusing on that, he was keen to praise the rest of the squad and said: “Tuesday was a big win, we had to really dig deep and show character to win it.

“All of the lads have been brilliant and showed a great level of maturity, and that has been all season.

“It’s down to us older players – like me and James McQuilkin – to help the youngster by passing on things. Those lads have been fantastic and that just shows in the results we’ve had this season.

“What has been massive as well is that we have a very strong squad.

“If you look at our bench, I feel those the players would go straight into most of the teams in this league.”

Visitors Harrogate are 10th and still have ambitions for the play-offs so Lowe knows not to take them lightly.

“We always do our homework and it’s no different for this game. They area good side, we managed to just get a win at their place earlier in the season so it will be a tough game, that’s for sure,” he added.

Harriers signed Northampton attacker Emmanuel Sonupe on loan on transfer deadline day yesterday, as well as former Villa and Kilmarnock defender Josh Webb.
